The Alabama State University women's basketball team will complete their Texas swing when they face Texas Southern, Monday at 3 p.m. at the H&PE Arena in Houston, Texas.

The Lady Hornets are completing the half way mark of conference play as they enter Monday's contest with a 6-13 overall record and a 4-4 mark against SWAC opponents, while the Tigers are 10-9 on the year and 7-1 in conference play.

The game will be broadcast on WVAS-FM (90.7).  Livestats will be available at http://www.sidearmstats.com/tus/wbball/  scoreboard.aspx, or at www.bamastatesports.com game day central.

The contest will mark the 61st meeting between the two teams.  Alabama State holds a hefty 41-19 lead series over the Tigers.  Since the Freda Freeman-Jackson era Alabama State holds a 28-8 series record.  The teams last met in Houston on Feb. 25, 2012 as ASU edged by TSU 52-51.

Texas Southern is on a seven game win streak as they sit in the two spot of several categories of the conference, in  scoring Defense (61.5), Field Goal Percentage (.383), Field Goal Percentage Defense (.379), Rebounding Defense (38.2), and Assists (11.9).

“Texas Southern always plays tough,” said head coach Freda Freeman-Jackson.  “They are playing great right now and we have our hands full.  We know what we have to do and that is to make sure that we execute our offense as well as our defense.  We are still trying to tweak some things because we feel that we are a great team, but we simply need to make sure that we finish our games.  We have been cheating ourselves out of wins and not doing what we need to do to get the win.”
