Lady Hornets and Tigers To Square Off Tuesday

Quentori Alford scored a team high of 16 points and pulled down 13 rebounds in the 77-67 loss to the Troy Trojans Friday night at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome in the season opener. Teammate Jamesha Blake had 14 points in her debut as a Lady Hornet.

"After practice today we are very confident about playing Stillman," said head coach Freda Freeman-Jackson.
"We are going to put the Troy game behind us, we spent time looking at the mistakes we made against Troy, and what changes we needed to make to get ready for Stillman. We have our work cut out for us and I believe that we will do the necessary things that we didn't do against Troy, to get the win."

Alabama State leads the series 6-1. The Lady Hornets defeated Stillman 71-59 in the 2007-08 season. The Lady Tigers are returning seven players from last season's team. Angel Mitchell is the top player for Stillman averaging 14.9 ppg. Stillman is coached by Cassandra Moorer, who has a 46-38 record in three seasons.

"It's been a while since we've hosted Stillman here in Montgomery," said Freeman-Jackson. "This will be the first that we have faced Coach Moorer since her arrival at Stillman. We look forward to her and her team coming to the Dunn. Stillman has a few players from Montgomery so we know that this will be like a homecoming to them. We will look for our sixth man (ASU fans) to come out and support us."
