Box Score As time expired in regulation Brown's Lauren Clarke sent the Lady Hornets and the Bears into overtime in the first round of the constellation game during the Georgia Tech Holiday Classic Monday Afternoon. Alabama State was able to edge over Brown by one in the extra period for the 82-81 win.

 After the fifth tie (59-59) of the game the Bears went on a 3-0 run until
Nakiya Smith hit two free throws to get the Lady Hornets within one. A turnover by the Brown's Carly Wellington gave Alabama State an opportunity to advance over Brown taking a 63-62 lead on a
Brittney Wright jumper. The Lady Hornets held its advantage (73-72) with 20 seconds left in the second half. Wright hit one of two free throws before Clarke hit a lay-up with one second left in regulation. Â

The freshman from Detroit, Mich. finished with nine points and four rebounds. The win was the third overtime win for the Lady Hornets this season, moving them to 7-4 for the year, while Brown dropped to 5-6 overall.

Alabama State struck first in overtime with a basket by
Brittney Smith, and two more free throws by N. Smith. The Bears responded with an and-one by Wellington to put the Bears within two (79-77). The Lady Hornets continued to run its course as N. Smith and
Quentori Alford placed buckets in the basket advancing the Lady Hornets to 82 points, the last points of overtime play. Rebecca Musgrove hit two free throws to reach the Bears within one.   A key block by Q. Alford giving her the third block of the night, with 12 seconds left on the clock and a turnover by Musgrove Alabama State went on the to get the 82-81 win.

Brown held the a 41-35 lead at the halftime break with 12 points from Alford the only player in double figures for the Lady Hornets Sunday afternoon. Brown advanced eight points (43-35) before the Lady Hornets chipped away at the lead knotting the game at 52-52 for the games third tie. The lead changed at least 10 times during the game. Another basket for Alford who finished with a game-high 22, gave the Lady Hornets a 55-52 advantage at the 10:00 mark.

The Lady Hornets continued their push, but the Bears wouldn't go away that easy trading baskets after baskets. On the collective efforts of an eager ASU team, Alabama State's Alford received a place on the All-Tournament team and their third overtime win of the season.
