Lady Hornets Basketball Take On Samford In Birmingham

The Alabama State women's basketball team will face Samford at the Pete Hanna Center for a noon matchup in Birmingham, Ala.

Fans can follow live stats @ bamastatesports.com at game day central or get updates on twitter, Facebook and Instagram throughout the contest.

The Lady Hornets (4-5) are coming off a 66-30 win over Mobile at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome Friday night.    Samford (5-6) will enter tomorrows contest after falling to UCLA 52-71 during the Tulane Double Tree Classic Friday night also.

"I think we played well against Mobile, but we need to play a different type of game against Samford," said head coach Freda Freeman-Jackson.  "Playing against Samford is always tough so we will have to just step up and play hard and play defense.  Playing on the road is always hard and we need to change that on tomorrow.  We need to just play hard."

Samford holds a 7-4 series advantage, but lost 44-40 in the last contest at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome.

"Samford is a very athletically sound team and they will find every way to beat us," Freeman-Jackson said.  "Our task will be to stop them and play tough.  We will have to play sound defensive basketball in order to get the win."
