"I thought we didn't do a good job executing offensively knowing that we do a good job playing defense," head coachÂ
Freda Freeman-Jackson said. "Our on the ball defense was poor it hurt us in the end. We're going to have to get more productively out of our older girls. When you are in a situation like that it puts a lot of pressure on your younger girls. We just have to get back to the drawing board and get back to playing Hornet basketball."

ASU shot 27.9 percent from the field, 53 percent from the free throw line, and 21.7 percent from behind the arch. Â

"We are just going to have to bounce back, because this is what has been plaguing us all year long, not finishing games." Jackson-Freeman Said.

Prairie View (5-13, 5-3) had 17 points off turnovers in the contest, shooting 40.7 percent from the field and 33 percent behind the arch.

"We were missing easy lay-ups," Freeman-Jackson said. "When you miss easy lay-ups, in return, you get run outs, which will eventually cost you points."

Jamesha Blake who went 6-for-16 from the field, to lead Alabama State with 13 points and eight rebounds.

Jeanette Jackson and Alexus Parker led PVA&M with 16 points apiece, while Shamiya Brooks added nine rebounds on the night.

Alabama State will host Texas Southern for Faith & Family night on Monday, February 3 at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome. Tipoff is slated for 5:30 p.m.
