Box Score Carbondale, Ill. – Alabama State women's basketball team suffered a tough loss to the Lady Tigers of Tennessee State by the final score of 74-64 at the SIU Arena in Carbondale, Ill. Friday evening.

ASU is now 0-2 in the 2015 Preseason WNIT.
 
TSU had four players in double figures scoring led by I'mani Davis' who had 20 points.

"We didn't play defense like we should especially in the fourth quarter," head coach Freda Freeman Jackson said.  "It seemed like we gave up allowing four players from Tennessee State to have double figures.  We just didn't play a good second half at all."  

The Lady Hornets could not hold onto the ball during the game. Turning the ball over 23 times, which led to 28 points for TSU.
 
ASU's fouling has led to defeat as they committed 29 fouls that sent TSU to free throw line to covert 22-34 (70.8%).
 
"We fouled entirely too much and turned the ball over too much as well," said Freeman-Jackson.  "We can't win if we don't play defense, if we turn the ball over and if we are fouling like crazy sending people to the line.  Hopefully we can turn somethings around and make the adjustments in the game tomorrow."

ASU only had two players in double figures scoring as Britney Wright led with 17 points and seven rebounds, while Daniele Ewert had 12 points and four rebounds off the bench.
 
The Lady Hornets scored 22 points in each quarter in the second half, however struggled to find a rhythm on the offensive side of the ball throughout the first half of the game.

ASU managed to shoot just 7-25 (26.7%) and a dismal 1-7 (14.3%) from beyond the arc, in the first half, yet they were only down 21-20.

The Lady Hornets' swarming defense limited the Lady Tiger to only convert 6-37 (16.2%) 4-14 (14.3%) in the first half.

Alabama State will have a back to back match up as they will face the loser of the Siena vs Southern Illinois match up, in their final game in the Preseason WNIT.
 
The game will be held at the SIU Arena in Carbondale, Ill. Saturday, November 21; tip-off is set for 6:30 p.m. CT.
