"Alcorn came out and played us tough right off the bat and we need to do something different playing against Southern," said head coach
Freda Freeman-Jackson. "Playing against Southern is always tough so we have to just step up and play hard and play defense. We most definitely need to make free throws. This is an important game for us, and being on the road is always hard and we just need to play and make necessary adjustments."
Southern holds a 40-29 all-time series advantage and won the last contest at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome 53-49 earlier this season.

"Southern is an athletically sound team and they will find every way to try and beat us," Freeman-Jackson said. "Our task will be to stop them from scoring and play tough. We will have to play sound defensive basketball in order to get the win. Those are my favorite words to live by."
