MACON, Ga. – Mercer swept the Alabama State softball team in a nonconference match up with a 15-2 win in five innings in game one and 11-2 in six innings in game two on Tuesday at Sikes Field. 
 
ASU (6-21) kept it close with the Bears midway through game one and showed improvement in game two. 
 
The Lady Hornets trailed 3-1 through three and a half innings in game one and then trailed 4-2 through five and a half innings in game two before the games were decided. 
 
In game one, seven ASU players had a hit.  Junior Alexis Johnson hit her fifth home run of the season while Laura Aguilar tripled and Jenna Mae Thorne doubled to each have an extra base hit in the game. 
 
In game two, Thorne batted 3-for-3 with a walk, a triple, a run and a RBI.  Johnson went 2-for-3 with a walk while Kendall Core was 1-for-3 with a RBI.
 
ASU will next travel to Longview, Texas, to take part in the SWAC Round-Up for the first conference games of the season. 
 
The five-game weekend series begins Friday against Southern at 4 p.m.
