MONTGOMERY – The Alabama State women's basketball team will attempt to extend their winning streak to seven as they host Prairie View A&M, Monday, February 1
st at 5:30 p.m. in the Dunn-Oliver Acadome.
ASU (8-9, SWAC 6-2 SWAC) is coming off the momentous 57-51 statement victory 57-51 over top SWAC team Texas Southern on Saturday.
Prairie View (9-8, SWAC 5-3 SWAC) enter the game currently possessing is riding a four-game winning streak after soundly defeating Alabama A&M 67-52.
This will be the 69th meeting between ASU and PVAMU. Alabama State holds a 39-29 overall series advantage over Prairie View. The teams last met on March 2, 2015, at the Acadome defeating Prairie View 60-52.
ASU is led by preseason Player of the Year
Britney Wright, who leads the team in scoring with 14.6 points per game while grabbing 7.8 rebounds per game. Wright is currently ranked fifth in the SWAC in both aforementioned categories.

Jasmine Peeples is gradually coming to form after her preseason injury, averaging 6.5 points per game and 6.4 rebounds per game. Peeples currently holds the single- season record with 95 blocks and is ranked third in the SWAC with 2.1 rejections per game.
The Lady Panthers' charge is led by the trio of Lamaria Cole, Larissa Scott and Alexus Parker.
The three-headed juggernaut is steered by prolific scoring and distributing of Cole, who is currently the second best scorer in the SWAC at 15.9 points per game and the number one SWAC ranked distributor at 4.2 assists per game. Scott is a double-double machine averaging 11.2 points and 10.8 rebounds per game. Parker, a Pre-Season First Team member, averages 10.8 points and 5.9 rebounds per game.
Fatigue will be a deciding major factor in this clash since both teams are playing in their second game in three days.
