The Alabama State University women's basketball team take their final regular season road trip to Texas as they face Prairie View A&M on Saturday, February 27 for game one of two.  Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. at Nicks Arena in Prairie View, Texas.

The Lady Hornets enters Saturdays tilt at 13-10 overall, 11-3 in SWAC action and are looking to continue their momentum against Prairie View. The Panthers (7-10, 5-2 SWAC) have won their last two games.  Their last win was a 70-66 victory over Arkansas Pine-Bluff in Pine Bluff.
 
"Every game from this point on is a must win," said head coach Freda Freeman-Jackson.  We know that being on the road is always tough and Prairie View always plays us tough so this is a must win game for us, this is huge!"

Led by Lamaria Cole of the Panthers she is averaging 15.8 ppg and is the third leading scorer in league play.

"Prairie View has been playing well and has a tradition of winning championships, so defense will be a key for us," Coach Freeman-Jackson said, "We have to build on the win over Alcorn and let the momentum carry us into this contest".

The Lady Hornets had three players in double figures against Alcorn Britney Wright and Durriya Shields-Sampson led the team with 13 points apiece and Jasmine Peeples aided with 12.

Wright is still leading the team in scoring averaging 14.7 points per contest she also leads the team in rebounds averaging 7.9 rpg.  Peeples is second on the team in scoring averaging 7.5 points.
