MONTGOMERY – The Alabama State University women's basketball team will host Grambling State for Senior Day and close out the regular season play on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.

This night marks Senior Day and Greek Night as Alabama State will honor Jasmine Peeples, Ashanti Spencer, and Durriya Shields-Sampson.

The meeting between these two teams will be 76^th meeting in the all-time series. The Lady Tigers lead the series 43-32. Earlier this season, when these two teams faced off ASU faltered on the road to Grambling 89-69. The Lady Hornets are seeking redemption, securing the top seed spot in next week's Southwestern Athletic Conference and the regular season SWAC championship.

Alabama State enters Saturday's match-up with a 15-11 (13-4 SWAC) record after a 63-57 home victory over Jackson State. Grambling State enters the Dome with a 16-12 (13-4 SWAC) record after claiming a 75-69 road win over Alabama A&M.

ASU currently is jostling in a four-way tie with Grambling, Southern and Texas Southern all sharing the identical conference record entering Saturday's game.

Grambling is offensively led by freshman Shakyla Hill (13.2 points) Jazmine Boyd (10.8), Yosha Watson (9.4 points) and Bre'nae Andrews (9.1 points). The Lady Tigers lead the conference scoring average (65.9 points per-game), turnover margin (+8.06) and are currently riding a conference-leading six game winning streak.

Alabama State averages 62.7 points per game and hold their opponents to 59.4 points-per-game. Britney Wright leads the team in scoring at 14.6 points per game along with grabbing 8.0 rebounds per game while defensive anchor Peeples is averaging 7.3 points, a team-high 8.2 rebounds per game and 2.2 blocks per game. The 6-foot 2 Selma-native needs three more blocks to become the all-time block leader.

The Lady Hornets bench will play a crucial role on the defensive side as Grambling has
multiple potential double-digit scoring threats.
