MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Alabama State men's basketball team looks to get back into the win column on Monday as the Hornets play host to Southern in a Southwest Athletic Conference (SWAC) contest at the Oliver-Dunn Acadome.
The Hornets (4-14 overall, 2-4 SWAC) enter the game off a 78-71 loss on Saturday against Alcorn State.
Tony Armstrong paced the offense with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Rodney Simeon had 13 points and four boards, while
Reginald Gee added 12 points.
The Hornets shot 35.2 percent (25-of-71) from the floor and 72.7 percent (16-of-22) from the free-throw line in the loss on Saturday.
Southern enters the game off a 53-52 victory over Alabama A&M as LaQuentin Collins scored on a putback with 11 seconds left to lift the Jaguars to the victory. Shawn Prudhomme finished with 13 points as Southern (9-11, 5-2) has won its last three games.
The Jaguars are averaging 71.0 points per game, but are just 3-8 on the road this season.
The game tips off at 7:30 pm Monday night at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome.
