Rogers leads four players in double figures, Hornets fall on the road

Alabama State travels even further West this week to face Oregon on Friday

BROOKINGS, S.D. | Steve Rogers came off the bench to lead four players in double figures against South Dakota State Tuesday night, but it wasn't enough to overcome the duo of Mike Daum and David Jenkins, Jr., as the Hornets fell 94-60 at Frost Arena in non-conference action.

Rogers led Alabama State (0-3) with 17 points on 50 (5-of-10) percent shooting from the floor, including knocking down five three-pointers in the loss. Terrance LeFlore came off the bench to add 13 on 45.4 (5-of-11) percent shooting from the floor, including a pair of three points and four steals.

Reginald Gee added 13 on 40 (4-of-10) percent shooting from the floor, while Ed Jones chipped in with 11.

The Hornets connected on 35 (21-of-60) percent of their shots from the floor as a team, while knocking down 44 (11-of-25) percent from beyond the arc. They also shot 71.4 (10-of-14) percent from the free throw line, while forcing 13 South Dakota State turnovers.

Daum led South Dakota (3-0) with 30 points and 13 rebounds, as he knocked down five three-pointers and was perfect from the free throw line (7-of-7). Meanwhile, Jenkins added 20 points, while Brandon Key dished out seven assists.

South Dakota State shot 53.6 (30-of-56) percent from the floor and 58.6 (17-of-29) percent from beyond the arc. They also shot 85 (17-of-20) percent from the free throw line, while winning the rebounding battle 44-24.

Alabama State returns to action Friday night on the road, as they play their final game on the West Coast, against the University of Oregon (2-0) – a Final Four participant from a year ago. The game tips off at 8 pm (PT) and can be seen on the Pac-12 Networks.
