MONTGOMERY, Ala. | The Alabama State University women's basketball team will play their second consecutive home game this week, when they face in-state foe Troy University on Thursday night.

Tatyana Calhoun recorded her first double-double of the season, as the preseason All-SWAC selection scored 11 points and 13 rebounds after being held scoreless in the season-opener against fourth-ranked and defending national champion South Carolina.Â

Arleatha Gipson led the Lady Hornets in scoring with 13 points off the bench, while senior
Shamyiah Smith added 12 points.

Amber Hunt and Gipson lead the Lady Hornets in scoring this season with eight points per game, while Smith is averaging seven points and five assists per game. Calhoun leads the team in rebounding at 7.5 per game.

Troy (1-0), who is the two-time defending Sun Belt Conference champion, replaced seven seniors including the top four scorers from last season.

In an 89-62 victory over Stillman in their season opener, the Trojans had six players score in double figures. Kayla Robinson led the way with 17 points, while shooting 7-for-9 from the field. Janiah Sandifer (14), Jasmine Robinson (10) and Jasmine Sanders (10) all scored in double figures for the Trojans while forcing Stillman into 24 turnovers.

The game tips off at 7 pm at Dunn-Oliver Acadome, and is admission is free.
