HATTIESBURG, Miss. | Alabama State dropped their final game of the Lady Eagle Thanksgiving Classic at the Reed Green Coliseum, falling to the host Southern Miss 72-35 Saturday evening.

Kayla Stephens led Alabama State (1-5) with eight points and a pair of rebounds, while
Shamyiah Smith added seven points.
Victoria Harvey came off the bench to add six points and five rebounds.

Alabama State shot 21.4 (12-of-56) percent from the field, and hit just one of 11 of their three-point opportunities on the night. The Lady Hornets also finished at 58.8 (10-of-17) percent from the free throw line in the loss, while forcing 20 Southern Miss turnovers.

Southern Miss (5-1) finished at 53.2 (25-of-47) percent from the field, and 50 (3-of-6) percent from beyond the arc. They also finished at 90.1 (19-of-21) percent from the free throw line. The Lady Eagles also won the rebounding battle 40-32.

Megan Brown led Southern Miss with 15 points, while Jayla King added 13 and Shonte Hailes finished with a game-high seven assists.

Alabama State returns to action Tuesday night at home against the University of South Alabama. The game tips off at 7 pm inside the Dunn-Oliver Acadome, and admission is free.
