MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State returns to the hardwood inside the Dunn-Oliver Acadome against another opponent who played in last year's NCAA Tournament, Winthrop, Saturday afternoon.

Alabama State (0-9) will face their fifth opponent who played in last year's NCAA Tournament when they take the floor against the Eagles after having played South Dakota State, Oregon (Final Four), Cincinnati (second round) and Jacksonville State earlier this season. The game will also mark the second of back-to-back home games for the Hornets, who will not return home until January 6 in conference action.

The Hornets are looking to bounce back following a 65-45 loss to Tennessee State, and will be facing a Winthrop team who has won three out of their last four (lost to Georgia 87-82 in their last contest). The meeting will be the second all-time between the two schools with the Eagles claiming a 92-94 victory in December 2015.

Reginald Gee leads Alabama State in scoring, averaging 12.7 points per game and is the leading free throw shooter in the conference at 82.4 (28-of-34) percent from the charity stripe.
Rodney Simeon, a preseason Second Team All-SWAC selection, is averaging 8.0 points and 7.0 rebounds after making his debut against Tennessee State Tuesday night.

The Hornets have three other players averaging over seven points per game, including
Jacoby Ross (7.9 ppg) and
Ed Jones (7.3 ppg) off the bench.
Branden Johnson leads the team in rebounding at 5.7 rebounds per game, while also scoring 7.2 points per game.
