MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State heads into the Christmas break with a 61-50 win over Mobile in Dunn-Oliver Acadome Thursday afternoon.

Kenya Pye and
Keimeshia Walker each scored 13 points for Alabama State (2-9), while
Victoria Harvey grabbed a game-high 11 points.
Kayla Stephens added eight and Pye seven in the win.

Alabama State jumped out to a quick 9-0 lead to start the game, but Mobile answered quickly with balanced scoring to pull within 14-13 to end the opening stanza. The Lady Hornets created some separation in the second quarter, hitting three three-pointers and grabbing seven more rebounds to take a 33-28 halftime lead.

Alabama State took a 45-34 lead in the third quarter, as they were able to convert on six of their 10 free throws.

Mobile (8-5) could get no closer than seven points in the fourth quarter, and closed out the game by scoring 14 of their 16 points from the free throw line.

McKinley Seal led Mobile with 12 points and seven rebounds. Kendra Langham added 9 rebounds.

For the contest, the Alabama State connected on 30.4 (17-of-56) percent of their shots from the floor and 22.2 (4-of-18) percent from beyond the arc. They also connected on 62.2 (23-of-37) percent from the free throw line.

Alabama State will return from the holiday break and start conference action against Jackson State on New Years Day, with tip set for 5:30 pm.
