@BamaStateWBB falls at Troy

Alabama State hosts Mobile on Dec. 1

TROY, Ala. | Alabama State had three players score in double figures, but it wasn't enough to overcome the defense and hot-shooting of Troy as they fell to the Trojans 116-46 Thursday night at Trojan Arena.

Alabama State (0-5) freshman guard Jayla Crawford led the offense for the second consecutive game with 12 points and four rebounds, while Ayana Emmanuel turned in 11 points and four rebounds. Shmya Ward came off the bench and finished with 10 points and three rebounds.

Troy (6-1) opened the game on a 10-0 run behind 11 Alabama State turnovers that turned into 18 points on the other end. Ward scored the first three baskets to put the Lady Hornets on the board after going scoreless for the opening three minutes.

The second half was much the same as Troy uaed a 31-2 run to increase their lead and maintain their sizable margin for the victory.

The Lady Hornets shot 32.7 (16-of-49) percent from the floor and 19.0 (4-of-21) percent shooting from beyond the arc, while also hitting 90.9 (10-of-11) percent from the free throw line.

Meanwhile, the Trojans shot 50.6 (43-of-85) percent from the floor and 44.8 (13-of-29) percent from beyond the arc. They shot 73.9 (17-of-23) from the free throw line in the victory, while forcing the Lady Hornets into 36 turnovers that turned into 53 Trojan points and 33 second chance points.
