LOGAN, Utah | Alabama State looks to bounce back from an early week road loss, continuing their longest road trip of the season Saturday night at Utah State.
The game tips at 7 pm (mst) inside the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum, and can be heard on the Hornet Sports Network beginning with pregame at 6:45 pm (mst). The game can also be seen on the Mountain West Network.
Alabama State (2-5) looks to bounce back from a 10-point loss to Boise State Wednesday night, a game in which they led by as many as five – including at the half – before a second half run by Boise State pushed the Broncos ahead. 
Jacoby Ross led the Hornets with 17, while 
Fausto Pichardo added 11 in the loss for Alabama State who played without leading scorer 
Reginald Gee.
Gee continues to lead the Hornets in scoring, one of a pair of players in double figures early in the season, averaging 15.2 points per game and shooting 45.9 (28-of-61) percent from the floor. He is also shooting 52 (13-of-25) percent from beyond the arc. Meanwhile, Ross is averaging 14.3 points per game on 41.2 (21-of-51) percent from beyond the arc. The sophomore is also shooting 92.9 (13-of-14) percent from the free throw line, after having his streak of 13 consecutive free throws made snapped Wednesday night.
AJ Farrar, who started his first career game Wednesday night, averages 7.8 points and 6.3 rebounds per game; while 
Fausto Pichardo sits at 7.3 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. 
Branden Johnson leads Alabama State in rebounding at 6.6 per game, coming off the bench against Boise State.
Meanwhile, Utah State (8-2) returns home for the first time in two weeks, and the Aggies will be facing their second Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) team this season after defeating Mississippi Valley State 94-59 back on November 13. The Aggies enter the game on a six-game winning streak, and rank sixth in the nation in rebounding margin at 13.2 per game.
Sam Merrill leads Utah State in scoring at 20.6 points per game, while also dishing out 4.1 assists per game through the team's first 10 games. Meanwhile, Dwayne Brown comes off the bench to add 10.7 points per game; while Neemias Queta averages 9.8 points and 8.6 rebounds per game for Utah State.
The meeting between Utah State and Alabama State will be the first between the two schools, and the ninth against a SWAC-member school for the Aggies.
