MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State will make the short trip up I-85 Saturday afternoon for its final non-conference game of the season against Auburn.
The game tips at noon inside of Auburn Arena, and can be heard on the Hornet Sports Network beginning with pregame at 11:45 am. The game can also be seen on the SEC+ Network.
Alabama State (1-9) looks to bounce back from an 87-57 loss to Xavier on Dec. 18, a game in which
Shmya Ward led the Lady Hornets with 12 points and five rebounds, while
Tyesha Rudolph added nine in the loss for Alabama State.
Ayana Emmanuel continues to lead the Lady Hornets in scoring, averaging 11.9 points per game while shooting 33.3 (34-of-102) percent from the floor. She is also shooting 43.8 (14-of-32) percent from beyond the arc. Meanwhile,
Jayla Crawford is averaging 10.5 points per game on 39.5 (34-of-86) percent from beyond the arc. Ward leads Alabama State in rebounding at 6.8 per game and is scoring 8.4 points per contest.
Auburn (11-1) returns home after defeating Elon, 96-44, back on Dec. 22. The Tigers enter the game on an eight-game winning streak, and are led in scoring by Janiah McKay at 15.6 points per game. McKay also dishes out 5.0 assists per game. Unique Thompson leads the Tigers in rebounding at 11.4 per game and 13.8 points.
This game will be the 19th in the series between the two schools, but the first played between the two since 2012 when the Lady Hornets fell to Auburn 80-43 at Auburn Arena 80-43.
