MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State fell to Jacksonville State 17-1 in a midweek contest Tuesday evening at the Barbara Williams Softball Complex.

Alabama State (8-17) allowed 17 runs off of 15 hits, while Jacksonville State (9-12) got on the board first with three runs in the second inning followed by five more in the next two.

Casey Durham, who was a pinch runner, was able to score the single run for Alabama State in the fourth inning on an error by Jacksonville State before the Gamecocks put the game away with nine runs in the fifth inning.

Kaylee Davis led Alabama State with two of their five hits in the game.

Skyler Sullivan started the contest for Alabama State and suffered the loss, working two innings and allowing three runs – two earned – off of three hits.
Justine Jean worked 2.1 innings, while
Charlene Castro pitched the final 0.2 innings and allowed a pair of runs.

Alabama State will be back in action Friday as they begin conference play against Southern at the Barbara Williams Softball Complex. First pitch is scheduled for 6 pm.
