MONTGOMERY, Ala.| Alabama State fell 7-0 to Mercer University in a non-conference game Wednesday night at the Barbara Williams Softball Complex.

Mercer was able to jump ahead with a pair of runs in the each of the first two innings, using a two-run single by Caroline Taylor in the first before a run scored on an infield error in the second on a bunt by Meghan Rud. The Bears added another run in the second on an RBI single by Lauranne Sanchez.

The Bears used a double by Megan Lane in the fourth and a home run by Quirisa Mauga in the seventh for the final margin.

Charlene Castro (3-3) suffered the loss in a complete game effort, allowing seven runs off of 12 hits with a single strike out.
Kaylee Davis,
Kimberlee Owens,
Hailey Walker and
Hatty Shope picked up the Lady Hornets' hits on the night.

Alabama State hits the road tomorrow night against UAB at Mary Bowers Field, with first pitch set for 6 pm.
