LORMAN, Miss.| Alabama State fell one game behind in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) East division, dropping a 4-2 decision to Alcorn State Tuesday afternoon.

The game was the third game of the series that was originally played in early April, with the first two games being split between the two teams.

Alabama State (19-27, 9-6 SWAC) jumped on top of Alcorn State with a run in the second when
Amira James singled on Kirsten Gunter with a bunt, before pushing the lead to 2-0 when
Charlene Castro drew a bases loaded walk to drive in
Casey Durham.

Alcorn State took the lead with a four-run fourth inning before holding the Lady Hornets scoreless for the last four innings of the game. The Lady Braves took the lead on a bases clearing triple from Robin Harrison driving in three runs for a 3-2 lead. She later scored on an infield error off a ball hit by Alicia Hill to push the lead for the final margin.

Kaylee Davis led Alabama State at the plate, finishing 2-for-3, while
Justine Jean suffered the loss going 6.0 innings allowing four runs – three earned – on three hits. She also struck out five.

Alabama State will close the regular season on the road with a three-game series at Alabama A&M beginning Friday afternoon.
