@BamaStateWBB hits the road for a pair of SWAC matches beginning Saturday

Lady Hornets look to edge above .500 in conference play

MONTGOMERY, Ala. | After splitting a pair of conference games at home, Alabama State hits the road for two Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) matchups, starting with Arkansas Pine-Bluff on Saturday inside of H.O. Clemmons Arena.
 
The game is set to tip at 5:30 pm and can be heard on the Hornet Sports Network, beginning with the pregame at 5:15 pm.
 
Alabama State (2-11, 1-1 SWAC) opened the conference slate with an 80-72 loss to Grambling State, but followed that up with a 74-67 victory over Jackson State. The Lady Hornets are still in search of their first road win of the season.
 
Meanwhile, UAPB (2-5, 0-1 SWAC) opened conference play with a 62-56 loss to Mississippi Valley State at home and will be playing its first game since last Saturday.
 
A LOOK INSIDE THE LADY HORNETS
  • Ayana Emmanuel leads the Lady Hornets offense, averaging 13.7 points and 4.3 rebounds per game
  • Jayla Crawford is at 12.2 points per game, while Shmya Ward leads the team in rebounding with 7.1 rebounds per game to go along with 9.7 points
  • Alabama State is averaging 53.0 points and pulling down 36.8 rebound per contest

  • UAPB is shooting 30.7 (132-of-430) from the floor and 52.5 (73-of-159) from the charity stripe
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
  • Alabama State and UAPB split the season series last year, with the Lady Hornets winning 63-54 at home and falling 55-53 on the road.
  • Senior guard Areleatha Gipson scored a career-high 13 points the last time the two teams met.
