BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Alabama State dropped a hard-fought match to
Samford Saturday 5-2 at the
Samford Tennis Center. The match was the third road match of the season for the Hornets in the early stages of the 2019 season.
Alabama State (1-3) fell behind early after dropping the doubles point, two matches to one, before picking up two wins in single play.
INSIDE DOUBLES PLAY
Alabama State picked up a match win in doubles play behind the play of
Alejo Calvis and
Chris Andre, winning their match 6-4.
Ion
Efrim and
Alexis Collard dropped a heartbreaker on court one, losing 7-6.
Tomas Fernandez and Carl-Louis
Luckmann fell short on court three.
INSIDE SINGLES PLAY
Alabama State won two matches in singles play after
Efrim (6-1, 6-0) and
Alexis Collard (6-0, 6-4) won their respective tilts. Louis
Luckmann fell short against
Rossouw Norval (6-3, 6-4) in a competitive match.
Fernandez fell to his
Samford opponent 6-3, 6-3. Andre (6-0, 7-5) and
Calvis (6-2, 6-4) also lost their points.
