MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State looks to win its third consecutive Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) game and second straight at home as Southern University visits Dunn-Oliver Acadome Monday at 5:30 pm.
SATURDAY PROMOTIONS
- The night will be themed "Soul Train Night" as everyone is encouraged to wear your "Soul Train" inspired gear for the contests, and be prepared to participate in a "Soul Train" line around the Dunn-Oliver Acadome
A LOOK INSIDE THE LADY HORNETS
- Alabama State is coming off of a dominating 76-63 victory over Alcorn on Saturday in which five players scored in double figures.
- Ayana Emmanuel led all scorers with 17 points, while Jayla Crawford was not far behind with 16 points and four rebounds.
- Zomoria Clark and Tatyana Calhoun each finished with 10 points, while Shmya Ward registered a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
- Emmanuel leads the Lady Hornets and Is fourth in the conference in scoring at 13.8 points per game, while Crawford is averaging 12.1 points.
- Ward is second in the conference in rebounding at 7.6 rebounds per game to go along with 10.3 points.
A LOOK AT THE JAGUARS
- Southern is on a six-game winning streak after defeating Alabama A&M, 54-50, in their last contest.
- Skylar O'Bear leads the Jaguars in scoring at 9.6 points per game, while Brittany Rose averages 9.1 points.
- Alyric Scott and Taneara Moore lead the defense averaging 4.6 rebounds per contest, while Sarai Blissett is at 4.5.
INSIDE THE SERIES
- The two teams split the season series last year with Alabama State falling 66-58 in the first meeting at home on January 20.
- The Lady Hornets avenged that loss on February 17 with a 58-56 victory at Southern.
- In that contest, Tatyana Calhoun led all scorers with 15 points and eight rebounds, while Courtney Lee added 11 points and six rebounds off the bench.
WHAT'S NEXT
- The Lady Hornets will hit the road for a two-game road swing, beginning in Houston, Texas. Alabama State will face Texas Southern on Saturday, February 2 at 2 pm.
