The Lady Hornets (1-1) are coming off a 76-66 win over Mobile in the home opener inside of the Dunn-Oliver Acadome on Nov. 9. Alabama State nearly shot 50 percent on the night with a 49.1 clip (27-of-55) while also dropping 20 free throws (74.1 percent) to earn the win.

Aniyah Smith finished with her first career double double on a team-high 19 points on 7-of-11 from the field and a perfect 5-of-5 from the charity stripe with a game-high 11 rebounds alongside game-high tying two assists and a pair of steals.

Ayana Emmanuel added 14, 16 and 12, respectively. Clark finished shooting 70 percent (7-of-10) from the field with six boards and a game-high three blocks.

On the season, Smith is leading the team in scoring (15.0) and rebounding (9.5) while shooting 47.6 percent (10-of-21) from the field. Emmanuel follows right behind averaging 14.0 points with an 83.3 clip (10-of-12) from the charity stripe and 5.5 boards per game.

SWAC Player of the Week
Freshman forwardÂ
Aniyah Smith has been named the Southwestern Athletic Conference Player of the Week as announced by the league office on Thursday evening. Smith, native of Birmingham, Ala., earned the first SWAC Player of the Week accolade of the 2019-20 season after her stellar performances from the first week of the season.

In the season opener against No. 8 South Carolina, Smith nearly posted a double double in her first collegiate game with 11 points and a team-high eight rebounds which included a game-high tying five offensive boards.

Smith recorded her first career double double helping Alabama State take down Mobile, 76-66 on Nov. 9 in the home opener.
