Montgomery, Ala. – Alabama State was unable to slow down Clemson in the second half and dropped a 76-43 decision in non-conference women's basketball action inside of Littlejohn Coliseum on Monday morning.
Â
The Lady Hornets (1-2) struggled from the field as they shot 29.1 percent (16-of-55) while the Tigers (2-2) posted a 44.9 clip (31-of-69) which included a hot fourth quarter shooting percentage of 90.9 (10-of-11) to limit any hopes of an Alabama State comeback.

Sophomore
Jayla Crawford led the offense with a season- and game-high 16 points knocking down two three pointers alongside a season-high five boards and a block. Junior
Courtney Lee followed behind with seven points on 3-of-6 shooting (50 percent) from the field with a season-high four assists and four rebounds.
Â
Sophomore
Tyesha Rudolph finished with five points, a team-high eight rebounds and three assists.
Â
Both teams started the game slowly as neither team could find an offensive rhythm but Clemson went 6-of-7 (85.7 percent) from the charity stripe to help create an 18-10 lead at the end of the first. Both teams went back-and-forth in the second, allowing the Tigers to take a 32-23 lead into the break.
Â
The second half seemed to be the difference in the contest, Clemson began the third quarter with a 9-0 run that gave the team enough momentum to hold onto its lead for the remainder of the game. The Lady Hornets were outscored 44-20 in the second half.
