SPRINGFIELD, Mo. | Alabama State begins a two-game Midwest road swing Sunday afternoon, facing Missouri State to kick off the swing before traveling to Houston for a Tuesday night contest to finish off the swing.
Alabama State (0-1) looks to bounce back following a 95-64 loss to No. 7/8 Gonzaga to open the season Tuesday night, despite having three players in double figures led by
Jacoby Ross with 16.
Tobi Ewuosho and
Brandon Battle each finished with 10 points in the loss, while
Kevin Holston dished out seven assists against the Zags.
The Hornets were within nine in the second half, while shooting nearly 50 percent for the game against the nationally-ranked squad from Washington.
Meanwhile, Missouri State dropped a heartbreaker at the buzzer to Little Rock in their season opener with Lamont West leading the way with 12 points to lead four players in double figures. Tyrik Dixon and Josh Hall each scored 11, while Tulio De Silva added 10 in the loss.
Missouri State (0-1) leads the all-time series 3-0, with the last meeting coming in 2006 with the Bears coming out on top 89-49.
The game tips off at 2:00 pm in Springfield and can be heard on the Hornet Sports Network with pregame beginning at 1:45 pm. The game will also be carried on ESPN+.
