CHICAGO, Ill. | Alabama State returns to action Saturday afternoon against No. 16/16 DePaul on the road, concluding a three-game road swing for the Lady Hornets.
The game tips at 3:30 pm at Wintrust Arena.
Alabama State (3-5) looks to get back on track after falling to Wisconsin 85-67 on the road Thursday night, despite a hot-shooting fourth quarter in which they outscored the Badgers to get back into the contest. The Lady Hornets battled throughout the first half until an early second half run put the game out of reach.
Aniyah Smith leads Alabama State in scoring at 11.3 points per game and is shooting 42.6 (26-of-61) percent from the floor, despite missing the last contest. She is joined in double figures by
Ayana Emmanuel averaging 10.4 points per game and shooting 35.5 (11-of-31) percent from beyond the arc, while a pair of players are just under nine points per game –
Jayla Crawford and
Zomoria Clark.
Smith leads the team in rebounding at 7.7 per game, while
Courtney Lee has dished out 22 assists and is averaging 3.7 per game.
#Scouting DePaul
DePaul (8-1) has won six consecutive games and enters the game Saturday following a 105-94 victory over Notre Dame Wednesday night. In that game, Sonya Morris led five players in double figures with 29 points (5-of-8 from three) and six assists. She was joined in double figures by Chante Stockwell and Dee Bekelja with 20 points each, while Lexi Held added 17 and Kelly Campbell added 12 points (14 rebounds and nine assists).
The Blue Demons have not lost since falling to No. 7/6 Oregon State 98-77 back on November 14 and will face No. 2/2 Connecticut at home Monday night.
DePaul has three players averaging double figures on the season, led by Morris at 17.9 points per game and shooting 38.5 (25-of-65) percent from beyond the arc. She is joined in double figures by Stonewall at 17.7 points and Held at 14.4 points per game.
Campbell leads the team in rebounding (8.1 per game) and assists (60 total).

Clark led four Alabama State players in double figures, but it wasn't enough to overcome a strong second half run by Wisconsin as the Lady Hornets fell 85-67 on the road Thursday night. She finished the night with a team-high 16 points and six rebounds in the loss, hitting on 7-of-13 shots from the floor. She was joined in double figures by
Taylor Aikerson with 13 points on a trio of three-point shots, while Lee added 11 points and recorded a pair of steals.
Crawford added 10 for Alabama State (3-5), hitting on 7-of-8 shots from the free throw line.
Alabama State shot 35.5 (22-of-62) percent from the floor but was held to 22.7 (5-of-22) percent shooting from beyond the arc. They also connected on 78.3 (18-of-23) percent from the free throw line, while dishing out 13 assists on their 22 made field goals.
Meanwhile, Wisconsin was led by Niya Beverly with 17 points as she hit on 6-of-8 shots from the floor, while Sydney Hillard finished with 11 in the win for the Badgers who shot 51.8 (29-of-56) percent from the floor and 60.0 (9-of-15) percent from beyond the arc, while also hitting 85.7 (18-of-21) percent from the free throw line.
