Alabama State applied pressure from the first pitch, jumping out to an early 3-1 lead behind RBIs from
Kristin Gunter and
Charlene Castro. The Lady Hornets had a balanced attack, with three players recording multiple hits, led by senior
Casey Durham (3-3, 1 double).
Alexis Sydnor continued her torrid start with two hits and two RBI and Castro (6.0 innings pitched, six hits, one walk) pitched efficiently to pick up her first win of the year.

A game Howard club forced the Lady Hornets into a 3-0 deficit after two innings, but Sydnor jump started a rally when she blasted her first home run over the left field fence to trim the deficit to 3-2.
