MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State dropped a pair of games Saturday at the Black and Gold Tournament, falling to Southeastern Louisiana and Tennessee Tech at the Barbara Williams Softball Complex.
Alabama State (8-8) fell 8-3 to Southeastern Louisiana in the first game, as
Justine Jean suffered the loss after working a complete game and giving up eight runs (five earned) on 10 hits. She walked four and struck out three.
Offensively, the Lady Hornets were led by
Kristin Gunter at the plate as she went 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. As a team, Alabama State had nine hits with
Casey Durham picking up a pair in the loss.
In the nightcap, Alabama State was held hitless by Tennessee Tech starter Alyssa Arden as she went seven innings and allowed one run and struck out nine. Meanwhile,
Vanessa Bradford suffered the loss as she went a complete game and scattered nine hits and allowed just two runs to cross.
The Lady Hornets walked a pair of times, and
Alexis Sydnor scored the lone run for Alabama State on the night.
Alabama State is scheduled to play Western Illinois at 2 pm Sunday afternoon, weather permitting at the Barbara Williams Softball Complex.
