TROY, Ala. | Alabama State dropped a 5-2 heartbreaker against in-state foe Troy on Tuesday night at the Troy Softball Complex.
The Trojans got off to a fast start as they built a 2-0 lead after the first inning, but the Lady Hornets battled back to tie the game in the sixth inning. Troy was able to win it in walk-off fashion in the bottom of the seventh inning on a three-run home run.
Notables
Hailey Walker belted her fourth home run of the season for Alabama State (16-14), putting the first run on the board for the Lady Hornets in the fifth inning.
Charlene Castro led the team with a pair of hits, finishing 2-for-3 on the night.

Kaylee Davis and Walker each tallied one hit each in the game.
Vanessa Bradford (6-6) suffered the loss, giving up five runs on eight hits in 6.1 innings pitched.
How it Happened
The Trojans got on the board in the bottom of the first when Talia Truitt scored on Katie Webb's sacrifice fly to right field to give Troy a 1-0. They used an RBI groundout in the same inning to push the lead to 2-0.
Alabama State got on the board in the fifth inning when Walker hit her fourth home run of the season, this one down the left field line to trim the score to 2-1. The Lady Hornets evened the score when Castro singled to left center scoring Sydnor to tie the game at 2-all.
The last three runs of the game for Troy came on a walk-off three-run by Kaylee Hussey in the bottom of the seventh with one out to give Troy the win.
What's Next
Alabama State remains on the road to face Mississippi Valley State in a weekend series. First pitch is set for 4:30 pm on Friday, followed by a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1 pm.
