@BamaStateTennis celebrates Senior Day for four Lady Hornets with victory

Alabama State returns to action next weekend at the conference tournament

MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State closed out the 2019 regular season with a 4-0 victory over Spring Hill on Senior Day at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center Sunday afternoon.

Alabama State (11-8) finished the home portion of the regular season with eight wins, including winning back-to-back matches over the last two days. The Lady Hornets celebrated the careers of four players in their final home match – Chloe Kabamba, Lea Krajcovicova, Reka Szentes and Gabriela Lackova – with all four in the lineup for the match.

The Lady Hornets grabbed the doubles point, dropping just two games in the two matches completed, to grab a 1-0 lead entering singles play. In singles play, Alabama State got victories from Worthy Goldman (number four) and Urska Velec (number five) in straight sets without dropping a game. Meanwhile, Kabamba picked up a win at number six when Mary Roan of Spring Hill retired after falling behind 3-0 in the opening set.

The match was clinched by Goldman at number four.
