TUSCALOOSA, Ala. | Alabama State's season came to an end on the second day of the Tuscaloosa Regional following a 14-0 loss to Lipscomb on Saturday afternoon at Rhoads Stadium.
Hailey Walker and
Casey Durham led Alabama State (24-25) at the plate, each picking up a hit in the loss as Megan Gray (9-2) and Katie Turner combined to two-hit the Lady Hornets in the elimination contest. Lipscomb took and extended their lead with 10 runs in the second inning to build a 10-0 lead, before adding four more in the fourth for the final margin.
Gray picked up the win for Lipscomb (42-14-1), allowing just one hit; while
Vanessa Bradford (8-10) suffered the loss for the Lady Hornets, working 1.1 innings and allowing five runs on a single hit.
Skyler Sullivan pitched 1.2 innings, allowing six hits and five runs, while
Charlene Castro played the final inning allowing one hit and four runs.
The loss brought an end to the careers of
Kristin Gunter,
Charlene Castro,
Casey Durham,
Amira James and
Kaylee Davis. The Lady Hornets won a pair of conference titles with the class, and appeared in a pair of NCAA Regionals.
