@BamaStateTennis fell to top-seeded Georgia in opening round of NCAA

Season ends for Lady Hornets at 13-9

ATHENS, Ga.| Alabama State fell to top-seeded Georgia, 4-0 in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament, ending their season after capturing their third consecutive conference championship.

Alabama State (13-9), who had their match moved up due to the chance of rain, dropped the doubles point after falling at number two 6-0. In singles play, Alabama State dropped a pair of matches after not having the number six slot filled. Georgia (24-1), the second-ranked team in the country at the end of the regular season, won matches at number three and five behind nationally-ranked players.

Urska Velec dropped her match to 69th-ranked Lourdes Carle at number three, before Marija Blazevic fell to 122nd-ranked Meg Kowalski at number five.
