MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State hits the road for the first of three road Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) games over the next week, facing Alabama A&M at Bill Harris Arena Saturday afternoon.
The game is scheduled to tip at 5 pm, or 20 minutes following the conclusion of the women's contest and can be heard on the Hornet Sports Network with pregame set for 15 minutes prior to tip. This will be the second consecutive year that the two teams have met in Bill Harris Arena, the site of the SWAC Championship Tournament.
Tickets are still available for $15 general admission and $20 for premium.
#What to Watch For
Tobi Ewuosho continues to lead Alabama State in both scoring and rebounding heading into the third week of conference play. The senior, a two-time SWAC Player of the Week award winner, is averaging 14.6 points and 6.1 rebounds per game this season. He has also scored in double figures in 14 of the 17 games the Hornets have played in 2019-20.
Both
Leon Daniels and
Brandon Battle are averaging 7.6 points per game with each providing a spark for the Hornets. Battle has scored in double figures in four straight games, while Daniels poured in 20 in a win over Mississippi Valley State.
In conference play, a pair of Hornets – Ewuosho and Daniels – are averaging in double figures with Ewuosho leading the way at 16.0 points and 6.3 rebounds. Daniels, meanwhile, is averaging 10.8 points and 6.5 rebounds in conference play.
Meanwhile,
DJ Heath is averaging 9.5 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game from his point guard position in conference play, while Battle is averaging 9.3 points and 6.0 rebounds per game.
#Scouting Alabama A&M
Cameron Alford leads Alabama A&M in scoring at 14.3 points per game, the lone player in double figures for the Bulldogs. He is shooting 41.4 (77-of-186) percent from the floor and 30.0 (18-of-60) percent from beyond the arc, while grabbing 4.9 rebounds per game.
Meanwhile, Garrett Hicks is averaging 9.4 points per game.
In conference play, Alabama A&M has a pair of players in double figures – Alford and EJ Williams. Alford is averaging 12.8 points to go along with 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game through four conference games; while Williams is averaging 10.8 points and 7.0 rebounds per game for the Bulldogs.

Alabama State leads the all-time series with Alabama A&M, 83-30, including sweeping the season series last year. The Hornets have won the last seven in the series and have won eight of the last 10 in the series.
