TROY, Ala. | Alabama State dropped their season-opener to in-state foe Troy, 7-0, Saturday afternoon at the Lunsford Tennis Complex.

Alabama State (0-1), who faces West Alabama in their home opener Sunday (February 2), fell behind early by dropping the doubles' point. The Lady Hornets dropped matches at number one (6-4) and number three (6-3) to concede the point, however, the number two doubles team of Urska Velec and Bea Acena were able to pick up a 7-5 win at number three doubles.

In singles action, Alabama State dropped four of the six singles matches in three sets to drop the match, however, they pushed a pair of matches to three sets at number two and number 6. At number two singles, Madalena Andrade picked up the first set before falling 3-6, 7-5, 6-1; while Vivien Kutacova picked up the first set at number six singles before falling 2-6, 7-5, 6-3. They also dropped matches at number three and number five in three.

Alabama State returns to action Sunday afternoon at 12 pm at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center against West Alabama. Admission is free to all home tennis matches.
