@BamaStateMBB returns home to face Southern and Alcorn State

MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State returns home to continue their three-game stand, hosting Southern and Alcorn State in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) beginning Saturday.

Alabama State (8-17, 7-5 SWAC), in the midst of a five-game winning streak, hosts Southern (11-15, 8-5 SWAC) Saturday night with tip set for 5 pm on Alumni Night, before facing Alcorn State (12-12, 8-5 SWAC) Monday night at 7:30 pm.

The Hornets last loss on the road in Lorman (Miss.) to Alcorn State back on January 27 before beginning their winning streak. The Hornets dropped that contest 63-60, while falling to Southern 80-71 on the road during the same road swing.

What to Watch For
Alabama State is currently in fifth place in the SWAC standings with six games remaining on the schedule, including games against the four teams ahead of them in the standings. The Hornets find themselves three games back of Prairie View A&M (10-2) in first place, two games back of Texas Southern (9-3) and just one game back in the win column of Southern and Alcorn State in the standings.

The Hornets also have games against Grambling State (7-6) and Jackson State (7-6) remaining on the schedule. With a win, coupled with a loss by UAPB or Mississippi Valley State this weekend, the Hornets would clinch a spot in the conference tournament.

Tobi Ewuosho continues to lead Alabama State in scoring at 13.3 points per game and in rebounding at 6.1 points per game. The senior is currently sitting at 738 career points, 414 career rebounds and q0q career assists. Meanwhile, Leon Daniels is averaging 9.9 points and 4.4 rebounds per game for the Hornets.

In conference play, Daniels 13.4 points and 6.2 rebounds, while Ewuosho is averaging 12.4 points and 6.1 rebounds per game.
Junior
Jacoby Ross enters the game with 861 career points, averaging 10.6 points per game. He recorded his first career double-double on the road against Mississippi Valley State with 26 points and 11 rebounds two weeks ago.
