JACKSON, Miss. | Alabama State saw its 2019-2020 season come to an end Tuesday night, as the Lady Hornets fell, 53-71, in the 2020 Cricket Wireless Southwestern Athletic Conference quarterfinals at the Lee Williams AAC.

The Lady Hornets (9-21) trailed by just one at the end of the first quarter, but the SWAC regular season champs turned it on after that – opening things up with a 10-2 run to start the second. The Lady Tigers (19-10) outscored Alabama State by 10 in that frame.

Tyesha Rudolph led the offensive charge for Alabama State, scoring 13 points with a couple of made three-pointers in the ballgame. The only other Lady Hornet in double figures was Courtney Lee, who finished with 10 points to go along with four rebounds, five assists and a steal.

Jackson State's Ameshya Williams was a force in the paint, dropping 23 points and grabbing 17 boards to help send her squad through to the semifinals in Birmingham this weekend. Williams was the only Lady Tiger in double figures in the contest.

The Lady Tigers will advance to play Alabama A&M in the semifinals at Bartow Arena Friday afternoon.
