What to Watch For
Alabama State will hit the road for the fourth consecutive season to open play in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Tournament, pulling the upset over Jackson State last season as the sixth seed to reach the conference semifinals in Birmingham.

The last time Alabama State and Southern met in the conference tournament was in Houston (Texas) during the 2016 tournament, a game in which Southern won 83-68. The two teams met the season prior to that (2015) in the championship game in which the Jags were able to pull out a 68-66 victory over Alabama State.

Alabama State was able to either split or sweep each team in the conference this season with the exception of Alcorn State and Southern. The winner of this contest will face the winner of third seed Texas Southern and sixth seed Grambling State in the semifinals Friday in Birmingham.

Tobi Ewuosho went over 800 career points this week against Grambling State, and is currently averaging a team-high 12.9 points and 6.0 rebounds per game; while Leon Daniels is averaging 9.7 points and 4.7 rebounds per game after a 17-point night against Grambling State. In conference play, the duo is averaging 12.1 and 11.8 points per game respectively.

Tyrese Robinson had a big week two weeks on the road for Alabama State, grabbing a career-high and a team season-high 15 rebounds against regular season champion Prairie View A&M; and followed that up with 15 points and eight rebounds against Texas Southern on ESPNU Monday night.
