BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Alabama State's Ayana Emmanuel added another award to her trophy case this week as she was named the SWAC Impact Player of the Week, the league office announced Thursday.
 
Emmanuel averaged 21 points in the Lady Hornets' two wins over the weekend, including a 29-point outburst at UAPB in which she shot 55.6 percent from the floor and 9-of-10 from the free throw line. She added 13 points and five steals in the victory at MVSU to help Alabama State to their first 3-0 start in SWAC play since 2009.
 
The honor comes just a few days after Emmanuel was named the BOXTOROW National Player of the Week for her performances against Jackson State and UAPB.
 
Emmanuel and the Lady Hornets will look to carry their momentum with them once again this weekend, when they journey to Huntsville to face in-state rival Alabama A&M. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on the Hornet Sports Network.
