MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State returns to the Dunn-Oliver Acadome after a three-game Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) road trip, hosting Alcorn State Saturday afternoon.

Tip is set for 4:30 pm, and the game can be seen on the Hornet Sports Network.

Alabama State (1-4, 1-4 SWAC) looks to rebound and get back into the win column after a road loss to in-state rival Alabama A&M last Saturday. In that contest, Kenny Strawbridge and Brandon Battle each posted double figures in scoring, with Battle finishing the day with his first career double-double. The game will be just the third of the season inside the home venue for the Hornets.

Strawbridge leads Alabama State in scoring and rebounding, averaging 13.0 points and 9.4 rebounds per game through five games in 2021. He leads the team in minutes, averaging 34.8 minutes per game, and is also averaging 1.2 assists per game. Meanwhile, Battle is averaging 9.0 points and 7.0 rebounds in 22.6 minutes per game.

DJ Heath is averaging 6.4 points per game while dishing out 2.0 assists per game and ranked nationally in steals.

Meanwhile, the reigning SWAC Player of the Week Troymain Crosby leads Alcorn State in scoring at 19.2 points and 4.0 rebounds per game. Kurk Lee is averaging 11.8 points per game, while Tyree Corbett is averaging 9.9 points per game.

The Hornets lead the all-time series with Alcorn State, 45-39, including a 24-12 record in Montgomery. The two have met 38 times in Lorman (Miss), and Alcorn State holds a 21-17 advantage. Alabama State looks to break a three-game losing streak to Alcorn State, including dropping an 80-77 contest at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome last February.
