MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State looks to rebound Wednesday afternoon in a rare mid-week afternoon Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) contest, hosting Grambling State at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome.

The game will tip off at 2 pm and can be seen on the Hornet Sports Network.

The two teams were scheduled to meet to open conference play back on January 2, however, the game was postponed when the Grambling State team went on pause. Since that point, Alabama State has won four of their first conference contests and enter the game second in the conference overall – just one game behind Jackson State in the win column.

Meanwhile, Grambling State (4-4, 3-1 SWAC) enters the game having won their last two games.

Alabama State (4-1, 4-1 SWAC), one of the highest scoring teams in the SWAC at 70.4 points per game, are led by a trio of players averaging double figures through the first five games of the season. Ayana Emmanuel leads the team at 18.0 points per game, while Shmya Ward is averaging 16.6 points and 14.4 rebounds per game with three double-doubles on the season. Jayla Crawford is the third player in double figures, averaging 13.0 points per game.

Grambling State leads the all-time series 51-34, while Alabama State leads the series in Montgomery 20-17. The two last met in Montgomery on March 7, 2020 with Grambling State winning 69-68; while the two split the season series (Alabama State won in Grambling, 73-59).
