MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State hits the road for the annual swing through the state of Texas, beginning with Texas Southern Saturday night at the H&PE Arena.
Tip is set for 7:30 pm, and the game can be heard on the Hornet Sports Network.
Alabama State (2-5, 2-5 SWAC) enters the game riding the momentum of a home win over Southern at the buzzer Monday night. Redshirt sophomore
Kenny Strawbridge posted his third double-double of the season in the win and continues to lead the team in scoring at 11.9 points per game and in rebounding at 8.9 per game. Meanwhile, junior
Brandon Battle is second on the team in scoring (10.0) and rebounding (6.9) and has recorded a pair of double-doubles on the season.
Texas Southern (3-7, 1-2 SWAC) is led by a trio of players in double figures, including Michael Weathers at 14.6 points per game. He is joined in double figures by John Walker III (13.0) and Galen Alexander (12.4) on the season.
The Tigers lead the all-time series 46-35 over Alabama State, including winning 31 of the 38 games played in Houston. Alabama State ended an 11-game losing streak in the series last season with a 79-55 victory in Montgomery on February 3.
This is the first of two meetings between the two teams.
