MONTGOMERY, Ala. |Â Alabama State (0-2) will make the quick trip down 85 South to battle Auburn inside of Auburn Arena on Tuesday evening for a 7 pm tip.

The Hornets return to the state of Alabama after two contests against Mississippi State and South Florida. Alabama State and Auburn have met 19 times in school history, with the Hornets looking for their first win in the series.

Both teams are looking to add their first win of the season, with Alabama State coming off a tough road trip to South Florida ending in a 72-37 loss, and Auburn coming off a 57-44 road loss at Old Dominion.

- Alabama State is currently led by Preseason All-SWAC First Team honoree Ayana Emmanuel (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) with 11.0 points per game, followed by Second Team member Jayla Crawford (Birmingham, Ala.) and last year's SWAC Freshman of the Year Farrah Pearson (Hazel Green, Ala.) who have averaged 8.5 points and 7.0 points per contest respectively in two games.
- Hornet newcomers have provided some depth so far this season, with transfers Kailya Jackson (Gainesville, Fla.) and Tamia Stallings (Brookhaven, Miss.) both averaging over six points and five rebounds per, while Jada Nneji (Uxbridge, Ontario, Canada) leads the team with 2.5 blocks and 7.0 rebounds per game.
- The two teams last met on December 29, 2018, also inside Auburn Arena where the Tigers defeated the Hornets 83-50.
- Head Coach Freda Freeman-Jackson was a high school varsity girls' coach at Loachapoka High School in the early 90s alongside boys' coach Larry DiChiara, who now serves as the color analyst on Auburn women's basketball radio broadcasts. Both won state titles at Loachapoka.
