Alabama State wraps up five-game road swing at Iowa on Thursday night

IOWA CITY, Iowa | Alabama State wraps up a five-game season-opening road swing on Thursday night at Carver-Hawkeye Arena against Iowa.

The game is scheduled to tip at 6 pm and can be seen on the Big Ten Network.

Alabama State (0-4) enters the game after an eight-point loss on the road at Iowa State on Tuesday night, a game in which they trailed by just three with just under four minutes to play. The Hornets and Iowa have met three times prior to tonight's meeting with the Hawkeyes winning all three matchups including the last back in 2018.

GAME NOTES
  • Alabama State and Iowa have met three times prior to this meeting, with the Hawkeyes winning all three meetings (all in Carver-Hawkeye Arena). In two of the three previous meetings, Iowa has been ranked in the top 25.
  • The game will be the only game this season against a team from the Big Ten and will be the second consecutive game for the Hornets against a team from the Power 5 conferences.
  • The game will be the fifth straight on the road to open the season for Alabama State, with the first four shown on the ESPN platforms.

  • Both O'Neal and Michael Barber (Jackson, Miss.) each recorded three blocks for Alabama State against Iowa State, helping the team to seven total blocks.
  • E.J. Clark (Dallas, Texas) came off the bench against Iowa State and scored a season-high seven points.
