COLUMBUS, Ohio | Alabama State women's basketball will play their fourth power five opponent so far on the year with a battle against Ohio State on Wednesday in the Schottenstein Center scheduled for 7 pm.
 
Alabama State (1-5) will be returning to the court for their first action in 10 days after a road loss to Jacksonville State on December 5. The two teams are meeting for just the second time in program history, after a matchup on December 16, 2016, also in Columbus.

GAME NOTES

• The Buckeyes won the only matchup between the two schools with a 118-61 victory five years ago, on December 16, 2016.
• Senior Ayana Emmanuel (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) has scored in double figures in five of six games for the Hornets this season, averaging 12.3 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. Fellow senior Jayla Crawford (Birmingham, Ala.) is second on the team, averaging 11.7 points and 1.8 rebounds per game.
• Ohio State will be the first Big Ten opponent for Alabama State since a 2019 matchup against Wisconsin – five current Hornets played in the game where Wisconsin came out with the 85-67 win.
• Alabama State used a different lineup in every game this season, with sophomore Farrah Pearson (Hazel Green, Ala.) being the lone Hornet to start every game.
