|Â Alabama State will prepare to travel for the fifth time in six games to open the 2021-22 season, as they are scheduled to face Jacksonville State at 2 pm inside the Pete Mathews Coliseum.

Alabama State (1-4) is coming off the first win of the season with a victory over South Alabama, 69-59, in their home opener at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome on Sunday.

The two teams are meeting for the eleventh time – the first meeting was held on February 13, 1976, and the last being on November 20, 2019.

GAME NOTES
- Alabama State and Jacksonville State will meet for the sixth time in series history, with the Hornets leading 3-2 in the all-time series. All three wins from Alabama State have been inside the Dunn-Oliver Acadome.
- Senior Ayana Emmanuel (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) has scored in double figures in all five games for the Hornets this season, averaging 13.2 points and 4.6 rebounds per game. Fellow senior Jayla Crawford (Birmingham, Ala.) is second on the team, averaging 10.8 points and 1.8 rebounds per game.
- ASU has been a strong offensive rebounding team so far this season, leading the SWAC with 16.2 offensive boards per game and ranks 22nd in NCAA Division I. Emmanuel leads the team so far with 2.6 per game.
- The game will be the eleventh between the two programs as Alabama State leads the series 7-3. The Hornets won the last matchup with a 68-63 win in the Dunn-Oliver Acadome on November 20, 2019. ASU Head Coach Freda Freeman-Jackson and JSU Head Coach Rick Pietri are the only two active head coaches in the state of Alabama with more than 300 wins at the NCAA Division I level. They rank two and three all-time with 344 (Pietri) and 334 (Freeman-Jackson), respectively.
- Alabama State used their fifth different lineup this season in their 69-59 home opening win over South Alabama, starting Crawford, Emmanuel, Malia Grace (Grayson, Ga.), Farrah Pearson (Hazel Green, Ala.), and Tyesha Rudolph (Evergreen, Ala.).
- Sunday's matchup is the second consecutive game in the state of Alabama for the Hornets, who will travel to Ohio State for their next matchup on December 15.Â
