MONTGOMERY, Ala. | The trio of Brandon Battle, Kenny Strawbridge, and DJ Heath combined for 58 points for Alabama State as the Hornets upended Alabama A&M 72-58 at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome Saturday night.

Battle led the way for Alabama State (4-8, 4-8 SWAC) as he dominated the paint going 8-for-14 from the floor and scoring a career-high 23 points and connected on 7-of-8 from the free throw line. He added four rebounds and four steals, while also forcing the Bulldogs' post players into foul trouble with Jalen Johnson eventually fouling out.

Strawbridge added 18 points – including hitting three three-pointers – while Heath added 17 points and four assists in the win. The senior point guard has scored 55 points over the last three games, averaging 18.3 points per game over that same span.

Alabama State shot 44.8 (26-for-58) percent from the floor and 47.1 (8-for-17) percent from beyond the arc. They also connected on 57.1 (12-for-21) percent from the free throw line and forced 15 Alabama A&M turnovers. Meanwhile, Alabama A&M finished the night shooting 35.2 (19-for-54) percent from the floor and 35.7 (5-for-14) percent from beyond the arc.

Cameron Tucker led Alabama A&M with 14 points.

Alabama State returns to action Saturday on the road in Lorman (Miss.), facing Alcorn State. The game can be heard on the Hornet Sports Network.
